Kilimanjaro consists of the three summits: to the west, the Shira plateau, to the east Mawenzi peak and between the two snow-capped summit of Kibo which reaches 5895 meters. It is the roof of Africa. There are several ways to reach to the top: Marangu route (to the west), it is the most popular, Machame (to the west), umbwe and mweka (to the south) are demanding. You will be trekking and not mountain climbing.

Best Time: Whole year but avoid the rainy season of April, May and November.

How To Get There: From Arusha 2 hour drive and from Moshi a 40 minute drive.

To Do: On the way up, an extra dat between 4,000 and 5,000 meters will help you avoid altitude sickness before the final ascent. On the Marangu route, from Horombo, a day trip to zebra rock.
